When a Rolling Stock Operating Company (ROSCO) found water leaking through the roofs of some of their driver cabs, Stewart Signs Rail we're able to offer a vinyl based solution for fixing the trains where silicon and other mastics had cracked, leaked and proved ineffective through rail washing cycles.

Knowing that the leak could damage circuitry in the main wiring looms and potentially even short out presented a serious design defect which, apart from the cost of the damage and repairs, could lead to operator downtime, performance fines and claims against the ROSCO.

At worst the defect was safety critical. With water entering the outer skin of the cab, and going undetected until eventually leaking through the interior skin, the ingress of water going unnoticed during this period could do serious harm to on-board electrical systems.

Working with industry partners Stewart Signs quickly engineered the cab end sealing process - a solution which Stewart Signs has developed, tested and proven to provide a permanent dry seal that will stand up to the rigours of the railway environment.
