Chiltern Rail refresh the look of class 165 fleet with help from Stewart Signs Rail

25 October 2011 at 11:39

When Chiltern Rail needed to refresh the look of its entire Class 165 fleet, one of their key goals was to revitalise the passenger environment and internal paintwork, which after many years of service and consistent traffic of passengers, had begun to look tired and dated.

Realising that fully repainting the 89 units wouldn't achieve the significant refresh results in a tight 3 day timescale and offer a long term solution to wear and tear, Chiltern opted for a three stage system of heavy cleaning, local paint repairs and application on all painted surfaces of advanced protective and surface revitalising solution, ChelaGuard®.

Clearcoating ChelaGuard® onto the newly cleaned surfaces helps to lock in the revitalised finish and ensures the surfaces are resistant to marking and graffiti, easier and quicker to clean and the high gloss finish creates a much brighter and fresher look for the Class 165's bringing them in line with the newer units on the fleet.
