Halo Rail kick-off World Cup celebrations in South Africa

8th June 2010

Halo Rail has been busy adding the final touches to the Gautrain rail service, ensuring football fans can get around South Africa in style during the 2010 World Cup. The Gautrain – South Africa’s revolutionary cross country rail link has reached Phase 1 completion and this week saw the first passenger services in operation on 20km of the total 80km route – just in time for the tournament.

Since providing corporate livery for the units when the Gautrain project commenced nearly 2 years ago, Halo Rail has felt privileged to play a part in such a historical development that will bring the country’s transportation service on par with the rest of the world.

Following the Gautrain’s conception and assembly, Halo Rail has worked with designers and fitters to manufacture a livery which meets the unique needs of this export project.

With the first of the 24 four-car Electrostar electric multiple-units now ready to transport thousands of football fans and citizens and Phase 2 set for completion in 2011, the project marks another success for Halo Rail and hopefully the first of many for England in the tournament – good luck boys!
